FWA - Filtered Warnings Application 5.0
Latest release - FWA 5.1
Version 5.1 of the Filtered Warnings Application is now available, it contains several new features including:
- Ability to create customised RSS feeds from FWA notifications
- PDF file attachment support
- Authentication web service to aid development integration with FWA
- Tree mapping which allows category trees to be customised to reflect local requirements
Why 5.0?
FWA 5.0 has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, utilising the latest technologies and practices, to form a much more flexible and robust system.
FWA 5.0 System requirements
FWA 5.0 is much easier to install and maintain than previous versions, SQL Notification Services dependency has been removed and FWA 5.0 can even run on the SQL Server 2005 Express edition which is free.
Here are the full requirements:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003
- IIS 6 or above
- IIS SMTP Component
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express

The FWA is only for use by registered WARPs, who are subject to the WARP Code of Practice as described in the WARP Toolbox http://www.warp.gov.uk/BusinessCase.htm#S6 . What's new?
FWA 5.0 has many new enhancements that have been added to improve usability and streamline the whole process.

Data visualization
FWA 5.0 allows WARPs to gain more insight into their subscribers with data visualization on the statistics page
Category interest
It shows what interests a WARP’s members – allowing better customisation of categories
Integrated search
Integrated search means members can find notifications quickly and easily
Messages
A new message center on the home page shows you important information when you log in
Overview
An enhanced Overview page shows unpublished notifications per source
Penetration rate
After a notification has been sent, it shows the penetration rate
Customisable home page
The FWA home page can be customised using HTML, opening up a lot of possibilities for customisation (as shown here, we have put our website inside the FWA homepage)
Notification types
Notification types can now be managed from within the system
